About Me
My name is Mike Heath. I live in West Jordan, Utah. I am the father of two awesome kids, Miranda and Gavin and married to my sweetheart, Marianne.
I work full-time for the LDS Church as a Senior Engineer Java Software Developer. At least, that’s what they’d put on my business cards if I had any. I’m currently working on the software that is used to manage all the organizations and the leaders of those organizations within the church. Before you start thinking about how crappy it would be to work for a religious organization, we have all the resources we need and work with very cool technology. I work with a great group of smart software developers and love what I do.
I go to school part time at Brigham Young University as a graduate student in the Computer Science department seeking a Master of Science degree. My graduate advisor is Dr. Daniel Zappala. For my thesis, I’m researching event-driven database drivers.
I’m also a committer at the Apache Software Foundation on the Apache MINA project. I’ve been working on an Asynchronous File I/O framework for the Java platform that should complement MINA very well.
